Opportunity Assessment

The eGro model is flexible and adaptable to all countries. Before we develop the model for a specific country, we evaluate on a number of things. To find a country that can easily adapt to our model, we have found a number of crucial factors that weigh in. We consider these factors in a co-dependent complexity, where all of them have to be met, in order to have a high likelihood of success.

Before we develop the model for a specific country we evaluate on a number of things. You can get a deeper understanding of our Opportunity Assessment in the following. 

Inputs

Climatic Assessment

We evaluate the global weather patterns, looking for rain. If it rains with some consistency, our methods will work, even though the land is dry. Conventional agriculture would need irrigation systems that within a 30-year period would run out of groundwater. Agriculture in its current form simply fails to become sustainable for prolonged periods of time.

Cultural Ability

Countries are shaped differently by their historical development and culture. Some are collectivist with strong community feeling, co-creation and collaboration. They make collective decisions, and prosper in harmony. Knowledge sharing, trust and willingness to try new things are dominant in such cultures. These are strong indicators of a solid starting point and our agricultural production is supported by these cultural characteristics. Therefore we use this as an input to decide whether to startup in a specific country or not. 

With this understanding, we develop a close personal relationship to our suppliers and live in their communities to share knowledge. 

Technical Design

We design agricultural ecosystems for a specific opportunity and with different product opportunities in mind. These ecosystems become several times more productive than the existing agricultural systems. We draw most of our inspiration from permanent agriculture principles. These principles teach us how to do landscape architecture and design in natural patterns. Indigenous plants support the multiple crops by adding nutrients and holding on to the water resources. This way, the system becomes self sufficient with nutrients and water resources.

Financial Opportunity

We are looking for the fastest growth opportunities for our model.  We need to operate in countries where the R.O.I from our commercial model is clear from day one and where continued growth is possible. It shouldn't be inhibited due to the culture, the governmental policies or their national strategies. We also design and implement our model to have the fastest and most profitable return on the investment. This depends on the species we are putting into the system and the ways to sell them.

Geopolitical Assessment

Long term regional stability is necessary for a reliable supply chain. Here, we are looking at the bigger picture. A crucial factor for a productive culture to thrive and build commercial partnerships is a secure, stable and functioning political situation. The potential threat of the future is very much based on history. Conflict risks in the past were based on rulers desire for wealth, based on land and access to natural resources. Last century and some current conflicts are based on ideologies. Friction between nation states and their peoples of the future are dictated by water and food scarcity and climatic changes driving migration and building up civil friction.

Social Impact

Development of agriculture in emerging countries is crucial for local economy. Opening possibilities for a farmers to sell on a global market drives them forward - commercially as well as socially. It not only creates jobs and wealth, it also empowers farmers. It allows rural people to dream of their daughters becoming doctors. It all starts with a production model that protects natural resources, the soil, water and biodiversity for a high sustainable yield and income to continue for centuries.

Environmental Impact Vision

The eGro model we are presenting will be driven forward by global consumerism, and thus have a global impact. The methods in our model, has a potential to fully transform all infertile and dry lands into productive when used by all. 

Imagine Earth having a completely new look seen from space. We will see that the desert have become small and the food forests have taken over the planet. This gives us back our groundwater for future generations to drink, and it cleans our atmosphere from CO2. New life on all the lands will give us more life on planet Earth than ever before.

Stability in Supply of Raw Materials

With the climate changes we are seeing everyday, food producers will soon reach a critical tipping point of instability. With the current extreme water stress on 40% of the producing lands and the high global demand, the supply chains are beginning to show incidents of breaking down. When food producers transition to the eGro model they will be able to meet the demand without failure in their supply deliveries.  A few ´clever companies´ within food sector already understand this reality, they are looking to adapt to sustainable horticulture models at their end producers.
